12:00am EST - Update day is here and with it a ton of new features using Radio Frequency! RF C4, Drones, manual turrets, PTV cameras, and more!

Expect the update and forced map wipe to hit at normal time, 2pm EST / 7pm GMT. Our update stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the day.

    Drones

A new form of base surveillance is afoot! Drones can be deployed then operated at your trusty Computer Station. The whole thing is pretty simple, once crafted, place the drone down and set an identifier. Then, head to your Computer Station, put in the same ID, and you’re ready to take flight!

Hold the shift key to get airborne then just fly it, steering with your mouse and strafing with WASD (ctrl to descend). Although there appear to be no limits to flight time at the moment, you can only fly the drone within a radius of around 250 meters (can be changed with a server cvar). With 100hp, it can also be shot down pretty easily (3 pistol rounds or 2 5.56 to destroy).

    Radio Frequency C4

The utility of Timed Explosive Charges has greatly improved this update. With the addition of radio frequency to timed explosives, players are now able to place charges and control exactly when they go boom!

Simply take any Timed Explosive Charge, turn RF on via the inventory UI, set a frequency and you’re good to go! Grab your RF Transmitter, set the same frequency, then toss your C4 as you please. There is a 10 second delay while the C4 beeps and lets people know its been placed. Then, the light turns green and you’re good to blow!

This feature is good to go on any Timed Explosive Charge - no need to do anything other than make sure you have an RF Transmitter. Once deployed, the C4 can’t be shot or but anyone can pick it up once it’s primed (takes a couple seconds). You can blow using RF from anywhere on the map. Other than that, it does the same damage and works just like C4 always has. Also, to prevent abuse, there is slight damage applied to the RF Transmitter and RF Broadcaster any time you set a frequency.

In case you forget what’s needed for a RF Transmitter, here are the details:

    Manual turrets

A new paradigm for base defense arrives in the form of manually operated Turrets. A simple addition to existing turrets, players can now set an identifier (just like with the drones) and then operate any turret they like via a Computer Station.

When operating, use your mouse to aim the turret and press R to reload at any time. Watch out, the range is limited to around 50 meters, so you’re not going to be sniping anyone from far off. Also given the range, you’re not going to be fighting off the attack helicopter with it any time soon. Nevertheless, it’s a solid new tool in the base defense arsenal.

    PTZ Cameras

Speaking of base surveillance, PTZ Cameras have been added! Standing for Point, Tilt, and Zoom - these bad boys can be placed on any roof or ceiling part. Wire them up with some electricity (3 Rust watts) and set your Identifier (you know the drill) then you’ll be able to operate from your local Computer Station.

With the ability to spin 360 degrees and tilt down to look below in most angles, the PTZ camera also has 4 zoom levels (operated with left click).

    Industrial conveyor filters

With the industrial system turning 1 month old, some changes and improvements are inbound. Specifically, conveyors have some new filter modes. Here is the breakdown:

    Any Item
This filter works just like the initial implementation of conveyors - simply moving any items added to the filter list.

    Require All
Only move items when all items on the filtered list are available.

    Exclude Listed
Move any items NOT on the filtered list.

    Other industrial changes

Some other improvements to the Industrial System are on their way in with the update. Here is a summary:

    • Industrial Crafters now have 4 blueprint slots (accessible from the bp in/out ports). Crafter can only make one item at a time, will attempt to make the items in sequence left-right

    • Added a red flash to the crafter if it's output storage is full

    • Noises have been softened a bunch

    • Server performance improvements

    • Added an extra slot for a storage adaptor on the front of the small wood box

    • Conveyors will now turn back on after receiving power if they were on when they lost power

    700580_20230228175931_1.png?format=1000w

    Misc fixes

There have also been a slew of miscellaneous fixes. Here is a summary:

    • Various fixes to poker

    • Fixed incorrect gib sfx for stone triangle floor frame + ramp

    • Fix small and Huge sign deployment not working on all walls

    • Fix repair indicator not appearing when hitting a damaged item if the player has no relevant repair items in their inventory

    • Zipline dismount fixes

    • Fixed some small oilrig source pipes not going into the seabed

    • Fixes to vehicle seating

    • Fixes to saved sofas in unsaved tunnel dwellings (causing issues at server restarts)

    • Blackjack - Fixed doubling down while playing the second hand after splitting adding the new bet to the wrong hand

    • Fixed Blackjack swap between main and split hand showing an animation as if the cards were being turned over from face down

    • Fixed water catchers not filling up with water if the attached destination liquid container is full. Also, better fix for catcher detecting if inventory of target liquid container is full

    700580_20230301235254_1.png?format=1000w

    Other stuff

    • Server networking improvements - not clear the rollout on this, but improvements incoming!

    • Only destroy 50% of loot when a vending machine is destroyed

    • Fixed edge case of underground train entrance stairs not connecting to underground line

    • Removed map name from being searched when using server browser, will still show

    • Reworked storage adaptor deploy volumes to prevent placement when the storage adaptor is clipping into something solid. This generally resulted in inaccessible sockets due to the width check of the pipes. Should fix boxes placed under workbenches not being able to be picked up because they have a storage adaptor on them that can't be removed

    Server connects

I am happy to announce we have finally set up easy to remember direct connect information for each of our servers. To access, just load the game in, press F1 to bring up console, then type “connect usmain.rustafied.com” - replace the ‘usmain’ part with any other server, such as usmedium3, eulong2, auodd, etc. For a full list of all the connects, check out #announcements in our Discord.
