Another week in Rust development and we’re seeing various fixes and progress on new features. The next update and forced wipe is 2 weeks from today on July 7th.

Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the week.

    Trainyard update

Work continues on the Trainyard update branch. With much of the focus on the new Ore Harvester monument functionality, it appears as though we’ll soon have a new method of gathering and potentially transferring ore around the map. So far it seems as though ore will be extracted using this monument then loaded into nearby train wagons (if in position).

It’s not yet clear if this monument will be added to the existing trainyard or enter the game as a standalone. Either way, it does look like this will be attached to the above rail network and could open up the ability to move resources around the map like never before. Given the speed of commits, it looks like the team could be pushing for this all to go live with the July 7th update. As always, we’ll keep you posted as more comes to light.

    Monument light switches

In addition to the new monument, some work on existing landmarks is taking place on the branch. Specifically, it seems lights and switches for said lights are being added to various sites around the map including gas stations, supermarkets, lighthouses, and the airfield. Still on the trainyard update branch, we’ll have to wait till that is merged to fully investigate.

    Spraycan tweaks

Some improvements to free spray are in the works. Along with adding a crosshair for when in free spray mode, the default max sprays per player has been increased from 25 to 40. These changes and maybe a couple more are due for the July 7th update.

    Rust+ banning

The ability for server moderators to ban players from the Rust+ app are soon to be in. With the ‘appban’ and ‘appunban’ commands, moderators will be able to ban players from just the Rust+ app without banning them from the server.

    Other stuff

    • More work on pets (including a ‘GSD model - German Shepard maybe?)

    • Fixed crosshair not appearing when first person spectating

    • More work on admin panel to review player generated content in the server

    • Allow rideable horses to bypass the clipping check when mounted to an elevator

    • Admin spawnable modular car prefabs - includes presets for 2, 3 and 4 mod setups. Each spawn with full health

    • Require multiple ping samples from the server before showing the ping warning screen so it is more reliable

    • Kayak now faces away from the player by default

    • Mailbox, BBQ, medium battery and windmill now face towards the player by default

    • Testing out new inventory idle animations

    • Block map name in disconnect menu in streamer mode too
