12:00am EST - Another week in Rust development and we’re seeing some exciting new features along with welcomed tweaks.
Here’s our weekly development summary from TGG.
Initial work on pets functionality is being worked on. This week, along with a bunch of hidden commits, we see some progress on pet commands and a combat state for pets. Other than that, not much in the form of details or visuals as of yet.
Keep in mind, we did see a version of pets last October with the Frankenstein pets - not clear how much overlapping similarities there will be with this quite yet. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
Option added to invert sprint key behavior so the player sprints by default and walks when holding shift.
Large furnace comfort
The large furnace will now provide a small amount of heat and comfort, in line with other cooking and smelting deployables.
Magnetic crane updates
Some shifts to the magnetic crane at the old Junkyard. Here is the lowdown:
Crane now uses 80% less fuel (20% as much fuel) at idle. Should allow more learning of the controls without rapidly burning through fuel.
Magnet crane uses 25% less fuel at full throttle if not holding anything:

New loading screen
A new loading screen is on the horizon. No visuals yet, but from the looks of the commits, it’ll feature a server name, player count, gamemode, and map name.
Horses now trigger pressure pads
Fixed oil hunt mission reward only being 50 scrap
