    Tree Birds added

Harvesting trees in Rust just got a bit more dynamic with the addition of tree birds. As the name suggests, birds have been added to certain trees. When you start chopping - or if you just decide to shoot at a tree for some reason, because fuck that tree - there is now a chance for birds to fly away from the branches above.

About every 4th or 5th tree you’ll have the opportunity to experience these tree birds. They take off pretty quickly, causing a rustling and flapping sound, and fly up towards the sky, until they basically just disappear. Other players can see this happen, however, the birds are small and fly so fast that it’s unlikely to blow up your spot too much when harvesting.

    Submarines and underwater labs

Work on the submarine branch powers forward this week with a number of insightful new commits. Along with the subs getting love in the form of pushing functionality and fuel propulsion, it appears as though these aquatic vehicles will launch with some fresh content under the sea.

Word of underwater labs first emerged in the commits this week. With a new fleet of subs coming, it makes sense the devs would add some more attractions under the surface. Indeed it appears that is exactly what they are doing. Based on the commit language, it seems subs may be able to dock with the underwater labs, allowing players to dismount their sub to explore around.

It also looks like these underwater labs may be procedurally generated, allowing for unique experiences wherever you happen to be subbing around. Keep in mind, this is all still hearsay based on commits, we don’t have any confirmed functionality from the dev team. As always, we’ll keep you abreast of the situation as more progress happens.

    New train tunnel content

Progress continues on the new content for different train tunnel entrances and improved underground tunnel sections. Still on a separate branch, we have yet to get any visuals on this work. That said, it appears as though we’ll have some alternatives to the Freight Translit Line stations around the map soon. Also, they’ve fixed some instances where the elevator shaft and stairwell were longer than needed.

    Demoshot V2

After its launch last week, the new improved demo functionality continues to be added to. Along with some fixes for demo loading and mouse unlocking, the team is experimenting with some keyframe track widgets and track muting ability. They have also exposed TGA and EXR image type options and made sure the image sequence export respects the resolution setting.

    Other stuff
