12:00am EST - Update day has arrived. Expected to hit at the normal time (2pm EST / 7pm GMT), the patch will be accompanied by a forced map wipe.
Quality of life
Several quality of life changes take effect with this update. Here is a lowdown:
Modular cars take 4x as long to decay by default
‘7’ on hotbar now holsters whatever you’re holding
Monument loot no longer spawns when players are within 20m of the spawn point
If a belt item is equipped when opening the inventory that item will be automatically selected
Water catchers & barrels now decay
Always sprint option added to options menu
Restrict how far up a player can look with alt look while looking down
Tweaked ore / wood gather tea bonus calculation to give a consistent amount of resources for each node (very subtle number rounding)
Horses now trigger pressure pads
Large furnace now provides comfort in line with other deployables
The lighting at numerous areas around the map got a huge overhaul this month. With various changes to brightness, effects, colors, and atmosphere, the overall look of lighting in general is much more polished and refined. Given a picture is worth a thousand and all, here you go:View fullsize
After several tinkering attempts at improving Night Vision Goggles, it appears the team has actually done it this time! Players post-update will notice NVG’s provide a much clearer view than before.View fullsize
New loading screen
Players loading in after the update will be treated to a new and improved loading screen. While loading into a server you now can see information including the player count, game mode, map and server tags. The tips have been moved to the bottom left and background tasks moved to the bottom right.
Server browser filter
Players have another way of filtering servers this week as a tag filter has been added to the in-game server browser view.
Magnetic crane updates
The Magnetic Crane which resides at Junkyard got some tweaks and changes this month. Here is a summary:
The Crane should now feel quicker, more responsive, and less wobbly
Magnet will no longer get close enough to players to hurt them
Crane now uses 80% less fuel (20% as much fuel) at idle. Should allow more learning of the controls without rapidly burning through fuel
Crane uses 25% less fuel at full throttle if not holding anything
The Rust Soundtrack is live!
A bunch of new world models have been added
Potential fix for phantom footsteps
Players can no longer skin doors with the Spray Can if they are locked
Removed puzzle loot out of snowmobile spawn garage
Snowmobile no longer comes with fuel
Rebalanced garland protection - no longer takes multiple rocket hits
Fixed oil hunt mission reward only being 50 scrap
Potential fix for attire items being lost in some cases when equipping/unequipping with a full inventory
