Shared furnace/bbq inoperable by public

I tried to set up a Shared public furnace, and also to use someone else's Shared BBQ, non-tc players are able to access the inventory and give and take items but cannot turn them on, could that functionality be added? The Turn On button is green but clicking it does nothing.
