    Halloween comes Friday!

Halloween is right around the corner and the team at Facepunch has some spooky events in store for Rust! Not quite ready to go live today, the Rust Halloween event for 2019 will go live with a mandatory patch on Friday (exact time not known).

We’ll show off all of the features of the event (that we can) today on our update preview stream at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for more throughout the day.

    Halloween overview

Similar to other holiday events in Rust, the 2019 Halloween Event is going to run for the second half of the month and feature a variety of seasonal items and events in the game. Scheduled to go live with a mandatory patch on Friday, it’ll be active on servers till the next forced wipe on Nov. 7th.

This is very much still a work in progress and it appears much hasn’t been merged into staging yet. Given that, all the information below is subject to change. As always, we’ll update this post as that happens.

    Murderers abound

Originally seen in the 2017 Halloween event, Murders are making a return. Akin to a spooky scientist NPC, they roam around the map trying to kill you with various weapons such as chainsaws, sickles, and beancan nades. Their glowing eyes and boorish grunts will surely get you into the Halloween spirit as you roam around looking for candy corn.

    How many on map?
    ~ 40 on a 4k map

    Weapons used

    Example loot dropped
    Propane Tank
    Mailbox BP
    Water Bucket
    Gears (x2)
    Tuna Can Lamp
    Rope (1ft)
    Sewing Kit (4x)

    Store Items

Like previous years, there are expected to be some exclusive Halloween only items hitting the Steam market once the festivities go live. We’ll add more details about each here once they are up.

    Trick or Treat event

Similar to the Easter egg hunt from the Easter Rust event earlier this year, this years Halloween event features trick or treating! About once every in game day you’ll see a countdown and notice pops up saying “Trick or Treat Starts in: 14 seconds”.

Once it starts, Halloween Candy will spawn around the map. Race to pick up as much as you can within 3 minutes. Now what do you do with all this candy? Well, like any normal trick-or-treater, you can just shove it all in your gullet till your stomach can’t take any more. You can also upgrade it to higher tiers of candy (loot). See below for more details on each tier.

    3 Medium Loot Bags

    1 Medium Loot Bag

    1 Small Loot Bag

    Halloween Loot Upgrades

Lowest common denominator in the Halloween loot ladder, Halloween Candy can be eaten (healing +1, calories +25) or upgraded to a Small Loot Bag (10 to upgrade).

From there, you can continue to upgrade. Here’s a low down of each loot bag type and some loot examples you can find:

    Pumpkin Bucket

This handy bucket allows you to pick up candy quicker during the Trick or Treat event using left click. You can also use right click to throw candy at people - it does about 20hp damage.

    Scarecrow Wrap

The Scarecrow Wrap - found in Small Loot Bags - will give you extra candy vision when applied (basically allows you to to see the candy from farther away).

    Pickup-able resources

You’ll notice a change to the resources you can pick up off the ground with this update. Wood, stone, and ore pick ups are now spooky looking! You can even pick up bones!

    Stay tuned for more

As mentioned above, this is still a work in progress. Check back soon for more details on other Halloween content as it’s added. Oh, and keep in mind, everything you just read above might change or just be flat our wrong.

Rustafied servers wipe at normal times

With regards to wipes: All Rustafied servers will wipe at their regular scheduled times. They will restart and update once the patch comes out on Friday.
