Pinging a player in team chat will send a notification sound to the target player regardless of if they're in your team or not. A few of us were having some "ghost ping" sounds coming through with no text in global and pinned it down to speaking in Team.

Additionally, a spicy detail to this, the more @'s you put into your chat, the LOUDER it gets for the person on the other end, leading to ear-splitting ghost pings from unknown parties
