Johnson18at Posted Tuesday at 03:00 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:00 AM Some people are looking for a list of rules and amounts of farming items on the us server ie : beehives planters etc 9 3
Staff Obsidian Knight Posted Tuesday at 03:21 AM Staff Report Posted Tuesday at 03:21 AM I think it is a simple ask and I wholeheartedly agree. Economically, a good community makes more sense than a community held together by duct-tape and dreams. 3 3
Faelian Posted Tuesday at 03:27 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:27 AM Wouldn't be a bad call, especially since I remember the olden days of pickle farming completely making some grids just complete no man zones due to the horrendous amount of lag they can produce. 2 2
Mbonbon Posted Tuesday at 03:42 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:42 AM It would be nice if there were actual limits of what we can place for our farms so we weren't constantly wondering if we are over the limit and could spend more time enjoying the server without worrying about performance issues 2 3
KillerKlownFromSpace Posted Tuesday at 04:10 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:10 AM When you are flying across the map and you see an industrial complex that lags you out so badly you crash your heli is a little too large. So yes, limits would make the server more enjoyable. Having a list is great for players to read would be great. Another option could be the server setting build limits on certain items and have the player receive an message saying " You have placed X out of Y (item name here)." This would eliminate a player unintentionally exceeding limits for the server. 2 2
kloo Posted Tuesday at 04:17 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:17 AM I fully agree with what everyone is saying here. There should definitely be limits for farms, so people can instead focus on just having fun instead of making it another game of Factorio or Idle Factory. I agree with what KillerKlown stated, being: "Having a list is great for players to read would be great. Another option could be the server setting build limits on certain items and have the player receive a message saying " You have placed X out of Y (item name here)." This would definitely help out a lot with all the lag issues that have been around for years, since I first started playing RustEZ. 2 2
hahabob Posted Tuesday at 04:36 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:36 AM I used to be the tea farmer for a 30 man clan on a Vanilla Monthly server. I had 60 planters in my farm and within a week and a half of the wipe, I had already farmed enough of everything to last the full month if the team kept going the full month. The amount of planters some people have on this server is just wild and unnecessary. I think a limit is proper to help the performance of the server. 50 would be way more than enough planters and would be a more than reasonable limit in my opinion. 2 2
Staff Demolition-Dave Posted Tuesday at 05:12 AM Staff Report Posted Tuesday at 05:12 AM Having clear, set in stone standards. Would be helpful to all. Players and staff. What are the maximum’s. When is having to much well to much. But limit farming in all aspects. Not just flower farming. Horses, bees and composter farming. As FP began announcements for more animals. We really want to get clear directives. So all who come on to the server. Will enjoy the performance. From entity counts, build size to animals. There has to be some sort of limit. Or it’ll always be tested to its limits. Farms shouldn’t have windows. Greedy by nature in a monetary based game. Scrap and net worth.. Each month becomes how much more can you make or push. To do better than prior months or years. But when are we going to break things by wanting more? We all know water is broken before weekend after wipe. Has been since flowers got added. With the upgradable items performance has increased. We are making great steps as a community. Help us go further! 2
Sid Tae Posted Tuesday at 05:53 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:53 AM (edited) It would be great to know the actual limits and what each level is capable of doing. A spreadsheet outlining these capabilities would be really helpful. A lot of servers don’t have the level up system so having cheat sheet would prevent confusion about what each level can do. It’s frustrating having to figure everything out when it used to be as simple as placing it and forgetting it. Having clear limits and a detailed spreadsheet would be extremely helpful and would cut down on constant questions. Or just have flat‑out max levels for free to help the server and prevent confusion on which levels do what. New people don't have Net Worth to upgrade, and if it’s for the actual benefit with no downside, then I don't see a good reason why not just have it max level. Then you wont have to moderate various items due to it being a lower level and just know its always maxed out. I agree that there needs to be clear limits. It’s PvE, and we don’t lose anything anyway. I also think that if the issue is that it keeps breaking or not working as intended, the server should consider alternatives—such as an Auto Farms plugin where the soil stays at 100% without needing water, lights, fertilizer, being outside, etc. Edited Tuesday at 06:02 AM by Sid Tae 2
Danthrax Posted Tuesday at 02:55 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:55 PM Having a more defined idea of what is considered "too much" would be helpful. I believe that each player should be able to play the way they want but in that we each need to do what is right to not interfere unnecessarily with the ability of our fellow gamers to play the game. 3 2
awyeaha Posted Tuesday at 05:25 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:25 PM (edited) Planter limit and water pump limit seem good imo Size of farms like 10x10 3 stories max or something along those lines would be nice. Or if you cluster build having a limit of two or three structures(not including pjs, mining quarries). I also agree with Sid Tae - if water keeps breaking we should just have the auto water mod where planters are already wet. Edited Tuesday at 05:28 PM by awyeaha 1 1

Dahlia Posted Wednesday at 02:21 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:21 AM I feel like it would help a ton with server lag and build issues! 2
KillerKlownFromSpace Posted Wednesday at 08:31 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:31 AM In the past I have played on servers with "smart planters". They work incredibly well and eliminate the issues with the extra entities and possible water malfunctions (which we all know how frustrating that can be). Removing the need for water would allow players to move their farms away from river and thus spreading them over a larger area on the map instead of having them all clustered together. Not too sure about the max level for free idea though. The leveling system would force some players to make build decisions base on net worth consumption. If smart planters were to be implemented, a good idea would be for them to cost net worth. That is the whole point of Survival, is to have fun building and creating net worth. 1
Sgttuggle Posted Wednesday at 02:14 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:14 PM that is the thing ya dont need rivers to to make a farm I have used the ocean and have even done a nice farm in the middle of no where with water catchers and this was before the levels was introduced it is even easier now to do with water catchers. If anyone is interested in learning how to use the ocean or water catchers and doesnt know how feel free to contact me on discord or in the forums I have done these farms on both Scourge and Elysium so I know it can be done. 1
Darktweets Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago I think the important thing needs to be threefold: #1 - Maximum limits on numbers of planters, beehives, etc per grid/hex. That way we don't have ten farms in one area. Also, so we don't have one person taking up a giant area with their farm and then walling off the entire area so that nobody else can get to it. #2 - Maximum limit on numbers foundation footprints - this could be fixed by 'no base larger than a 10x10, four full wall location' idea. #3 - We're literally on a PVE server. We shouldn't have a single need for Walls AND TCs surrounding them. Walls surrounding bases might be something for a PVP environment, or something where TCs aren't readily available, but removing a player's ability to traverse certain areas because someone placed down a large farm isn't fair to the other players. If they want ot build a large area, there are plenty of islands or places along the outskirts that aren't directly in the middle of the map. Lastly, I feel as though each time we have a wipe, we should have the farmers register where their locations are with admins, like a heads up or something else needs to happen. -Tweets
BigDave Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago I don't bother NW farming so I'm pretty ignorant on big farms of all sorts. Is it possible to add levels to planters, so that each level increases the water/fertiliser/yield proportionally. I guess the same could be done with lights and sprinklers so that you could have 1 planter, light, sprinkler and water catcher (of sufficient level) for each type of crop rather than 10s or 100s of them. The same could be done for batteries and windmill/solar panels. Maybe that's too hard but I'm very impressed with the furnace, water catcher and refinery changes that have affected me. I assume anything that drops the entity count helps with lag?
