As many of you may have noticed, our Pure servers have been on the decline lately, and that's mostly in part of it being listed under modded and being mostly vanilla. Most players who search for the experience Pure offers do so in the community tab. Because of this, we plan to bring Pure back to the community tab to reinvigorate player growth and bring the server back to its roots.

In order to do so, we must ensure the server meets the community guidelines. This means we'll be purifying Pure to bring it back to its former glory and once again offer a Pure experience for players to enjoy PvE in once again. We'll be removing any unqualified feature on all Pure servers over the span of 3 months to give players and admins time to adjust. Have a look at our roadmap below!

    Explanation

Before you dive into the roadmap, just know that our Pure servers flourished when they were 100% vanilla, and that was mostly due to our incredible admin team that stepped in and assisted players long before the implementation of the salvage hammer tool. While admins have no obligation to be your personal remover tool, they won't mind giving a hand within reason if one is available to help.

Pure was our first-ever server and had maintained a healthy player base for over 5 years. While the player base now is pretty significant, the retention is pretty awful. The server peaks around 100 players on wipe and falls to about 40 after the first week. This is not good. This means we have quite a bit of players experiencing less than-ideal community presence for the majority of the wipe. That's the opposite of what our servers are about.

That's enough of my rant! Please check out the roadmap below so there are no surprises. For our long-time Pure players I appreciate your understanding and hope we can deliver you the experience you signed up for long ago.

    Roadmap

This is our list of planned deprecation of server features over the span of 3 months  to slowly progress our Pure server back to the community tab, which requires a complete vanilla experience.

    October 5th Wipe

    1. Removal of instanced quarries, pumpjacks, and giant excavator.
    2. Removal of instanced helicopter and APC loot.

    November 2nd Wipe

    1. Removal of /sil and other sign artist commands for players.
    2. Removal of all server loot protections spanning containers, vehicles, and player bodies and corpses.

    December 7th Wipe

    1. Removal of the salvaged hammer remover tool. *
    2. Removal of portable recycler for VIP. **
    3. Removal of the donation store. (Only memberships will be purchasable.)

    * With the removal of the salvaged hammer, we'll be expanding on the game's pickup system to enable pick up on all of the entities we can to reduce the burden on players. Foundation and foundation walls will need to be removed via tools or weapons.

** We'll work to implement alternative perks in the future, but as of now, the only perks would be the unique chat color to indicate that you've supported the server. We understand for many, that's not enough, so rest assured we'll find ways to reward you.

If you are trying to provide a true intro to Rust experience without the PVP aspect, will theft be allowed? I think it should be. It's a valuable lesson about locking your items and bases, and admins should be there to teach, not bail you out. Also is Pure going to have the standard Rust decay level? That would also be appropriate for a true Pure experience. I like Rust for the PVE challenge of survival against animals, scientists and scarcity of items. All of that disappeared when the server went modded. I am hoping for a full Rust PVE experience with the only difference being you can't kill other players.

I'm not sure Death's intention is for RustEZ Pure is just to prepare people for PVP servers. I got the impression that these servers were an escape from the toxic world of PVP. An opportunity for people to enjoy a brilliant survival game without other players negatively effecting the experience.

Honestly if the community Death is  after is one of toxicity, stealing, raiding, harassment and greifing with the rationale "that's REAL rust", then one of us has seriously misunderstood the intention of making these servers. It's certainly not the community I've experienced so far and not one that I would  remain in if that's what it became.

I'm not sure why anyone is speculating. We aren't trying anything new here. We're bringing the server back to its original formula that has worked for almost a decade now. Trust the process. 🙂

I only purchased the VIP membership to have the perks in Pure. IMO, you're ruining the experience that we've been accustomed to. It seems like you should create a 4th server for people who want Pure w/perks.   So disappointed.

Even if we went that route, the server you're playing on now would still be moved to community, because that's where it had been for five years up until recently. With the first wave of deprecations, we've seen a huge boost in midwipe player retention.

I like the changes, but please bring back /sil. It makes no sense at all to take away such a beautiful addition to our game. I mean unless there are issues i dont know about, like bad porn issues or lag issues, then please consider bringing it back. You've taken the magic from the game. We can use rustangelo anyway so all you've done is make the art we can use WAY more low quality. It doesn't subtract from or alter the game, just adds a little fun and creative expression. Like so

    Please, reconsider.

I'm not sure you fully understood Death's initial post, and not having a go at you, even though it might read that way.

The changes are made to make sure the server meets the community guidelines so that it can be found on the community tab rather than the modded tab. /sil puts it on the modded tab. If the goal of Pure returning the Community tab, where it belongs, is to succeed, lots of mods have to go no matter how great they are.

Death has /sil on all his modded servers, I'm sure he understands how important it is for many people. Unfortunately it's not Death but Facepunch who decides what the community guidelines are and therefore what mods he can keep.

Like those who want instanced loot, VIP airdrops, the EZ store, VIP recycler, remover tool, etc, those mods meet the exclusion criteria for community servers. The only thing to reconsider the the goal of returning to community tab, and we haven't even go there yet.

If you love the RustEZ community and you love /sil, consider trying the modded RustEZ servers. You would have to put up with a few extra mods you may not want but the communities are good and you get to keep making great art 😀

Thanks for enlightening me, I didn't know about the specific conditions which Death had to meet to return the server to a specific category.

I fell like removing the instanced loot takes away from the pve (without the interaction). So how do you fight over the heli someone is trying to take it down can someone now pull it away and take it? I just fell like it brought people together more. I an new here thou and only played like 2 weeks with the way it was and really liked it. With it removed I think having it up for grabs would be fine because that is vanilla. My view point is you either have people fight over the loot or share it and I like the share option. My friend bright me here and I think he was saying that he is going to leave because of the change.

If you are participating in attack heli, afterwards go to downed site & present your claim.   There may be some arguments but mostly everyone is agreeable.   In my past experience, we'd take 1 to 2 crates, depending on the damage. Damage can be found by checking the combat log by hitting f1, type combatlog.   Combatlog will show time, attacker id, target id, weapon, ammo, area, distance, old hp, new hp, hits, to give you idea of how much damage you've done to the attack helicopter. Hope everyone stays to see the changes aren't so bad.

As I posted back on page 2 of this thing, I played (in September) and I'm playing right now on a server that has /SIL AND is in the community tab :

It might just be because FacePunch hasn't discovered that server doesn't meet the criteria for the Community Tab anymore. It's not an automatic boot from the Community Tab the moment a plugin is installed; I know Pure ran with mods, and was in the Community Tab, for a very long time before FB clamped down on it.

Either way, FacePunch wants all mods removed in order for Pure to rejoin Community Tab, so there's no getting round it.
