I like this idea. I've been playing Scourge for several wipes. I'm finding myself bored by the second to third week of wipe. Once I get my building, nw grind and such sorted out, run a few monuments then end up roaming looking for something interesting. I have an idea that maybe after the first week, maybe once or twice a week, or every few days we have a horde wave that attacks players and bases. I think it might be fun and encourage players to build defenses. It can definitely change the build meta if you have to plan for base attacks. I've seen something similar on the U tube, I'll have to look it up.
