As more gets added to the game, I feel that adding decay would greatly reduce large areas of lag.  It also helps people that move back and forth between PVE and PVP learn to prepare better for how to get materials and what is achievable for upkeep.  ❤️

I support this message! 😄

potential benefits:

-Random foundation deletion

-More efficient use of base space or more work to farm upkeep (ideally reducing giant build size)
-more "to do" beyond hoarding boxes of stuff the first week and playing something else until wipe
-even at a reduced rate, a better "learning" experience for those looking for a vanilla PVE to practice for PVP
-an opportunity for players to learn, interact, and teach the electrical and pipe system if they wish to automate TC feeding
-player structures that have been abandoned for a new home/base will decay unless the TC is fed, creating more space for new players to build
-encourage TC placement within all bases and ideally prevent base thefts of partially built structures.

I've always wanted decay enabled. Add some richness to the game. In PvE we lost so much of what Rust really is so it would be great to have the most core aspect of the game enabled. The games name "Rust" itself signifies decay and I'd argue it's the beating heart of the game. We have wonderful players making teas and pies to make upkeep easy. And the production of those things is one of the more fun aspects of PVE, yet without decay after the first week the need to produce them vanishes. Large wonderful farms go unused. And the second half of wipe can be very slow as there is very little to do once everything is built. Decay would give players something to do for the entire wipe and the economy would benefit in a measurable way. I think it will also give players another way in which they can help and support each other. There really is no downside by trying it out, and plenty of upsides if it is enjoyed by the community.

I support revisiting a poll to add decay to Pure.

I support vanilla decay too!

  • It would keep the economy going further into wipe as people would buy teas, pies, mats etc to maintain their base.
  • It would reign in the monstrous big empty bases that are so common. Players would have to think before they build. This would reduce lag which is a major issue for several friends with not so powerful computers. Which is likely why they're here in the first place.
  • It's a more "pure" experience.
  • It's really not hard to setup a conveyor into your TC and farm a few boxes of wood or stone if you still want the monster base. A pure tea, bear pie, and ten minutes.

I play PVP servers when I want to PVP. Most of the players aren't utilizing this server as a "testing" for PVP unless they need years of data. I'm not on here to hit nodes or tress or do chores. I don't think adding decay prepares you for PVP in any significant way.

I don't think giving the entire server a chore list is the way to get people excited about sticking around all month. Hosted events and more frequent purges would encourage community building, increase return player counts, clear unwanted builds, AND not force an entire server of people to play a different way. I honestly think that embracing the roleplay elements of the game would be a much more fun and involved way to encourage population count.

I like the idea of adding decay and agree with a lot of the benefits stated above. Even a 50% decay rate would be a nice change in my eyes.
