The Next Chapter for Pure

With all of the feedback collected we plan to make some changes to our Pure servers, specifically some of the changes we decided to branch off to Pure+. This served as a way for us to test some of these changes and gather live feedback without disturbing the main servers. Unfortunately, we found ourselves unable to really explore with the limited player base and frankly an overwhelmed development team.

Reuniting Pure
We will be closing our Pure+ servers, originally launched to give players an alternative with extra QoL, etc. These servers, along with their admin teams, will rejoin our main Pure servers, along with all of the requested changes from the community within the game's community guidelines.

Since the sever didn't differ much functionally from existing offerings and Facepunch working on an improved native PvE system, we don't feel this server is viable long term. We know players enjoyed the additional QoL and access to store features but as its own server it just doesn't make sense. With the upcoming improved PvE system a lot of these QoL changes will be native.

While the server did surprisingly cover costs, it was at the expense of stretching Pure admins thin, and having to fork a bunch of our plugins since the server was so niche which drastically increased our workload.

Enabling Decay
Based on player feedback we'll be enabling decay at a reduced rate (50%) for an entire wipe and running another poll to make sure this is what the community wants. With the nature of forced monthly wipes we can easily flick this back off should the community decide against it. We hope this discourages large player builds and adds a bit more value to basic resources.

Loot Protection
We will be testing some of the native loot protection features to reduce the amount of theft from unlocked containers. The native protection is very limited, but much better than having nothing at all.

Timeline

  • June 30th: Enabling vanilla loot protection to make sure it works as intended before wipe.
  • July 2nd: Closure of Pure+. With all of the changes coming fast, we decided to go ahead and close these servers so we can focus on the bigger changes coming in August. If you purchased any memberships specifically for this server we're happy to refund. Reach out.
  • August 6th: Enabling decay for the entire wipe and collect user feedback to see if we will keep it enabled.

Looking forward to it, Pure+ was fun but the low server population made it sad. So, I ended up back on regular Pure just to have people to interact with. I will miss pocket recycler, but such is life; you win some, you lose some. I am definitely interested in more details on 'native loot protection features' one of the most annoying things has been dying during early wipe and some troll loots my body before I can get back to it.

Could we please get some more info what 'native protection' is going to be? Is it TC protected unlootable boxes or some dead body loot protection? Thanks in advance.

It will be enabled tomorrow for testing on all Pure servers.

I know this is a month away yet - But that being said i'd like to ask about it.

I personally dont feel Decay is a good option, just looking at my base this season as a due we'd need to have our TC stocked with 47000 Stone a day, or 1.4 million over a 30 day season.

I understand there is a problem with lagg and "super bases" being the a major factor for lagg,  that being said though alot of lagg is a factor of bases sitting for 10 days before being removed.
Would lowering the 10 day timer help with this lagg issue instead of Decay being added?

Me personally, i cant see me or the team im in staying here if we have to mine 1million stone per base we have. Our bases are not even the biggest in this server this season.

Thanks 🙂

1.4 million stone in 30 days is quite good and I'm sure you're factoring in vanilla decay. Just so you know, with a jackhammer you could get that much stone in less than a day. Some can get that in a few hours. If you have trouble finding stone, use Quarry, GE, or trade wood for stone.

When talking about lag, you can always just create full TWIG bases with the lowest decay in the game and make it two grids big 😛

(i think previously twig decayed after like 8 hours when i first joined a year orso ago for that reason)

But on a more serieus note though, the decay should probaly be none and if you would add decay make it 25% max, If you want to build something cool you end up spending the first time of your limited play time farming for an hour or two to get the resources for upkeep.

The reason you play Pure is to enjoy, otherwise there are other servers that give you the decay experience, the non-decay is what makes this server set unique and i believe that is what retains the relatively high PVE vanilla player counts.

hi dear RustiEZ ,

If im gonna be happry with the changes, i dont know yet, but will see .

I understand some people have problems with the decay being enabled, but hey like @Death allready annonced , its so easy to farm a bit amount  of any sourse. U Just need to do a little effort for once 🙂

instead of allways waiting for the attack heli or brad (for the campers ) 😛

like i sayed happy to test out.

1.4mill stone is over 30 large chest of stone... witch i cant store because i cant afford to make my storage room bigger due the fact it will cost me more  stone per 24 hours lol.
i'd need 140 diesel to collect 1.4mill stone, then it would take me just short of 5 hours to GE that much stone.

Jacker hammer is an option yeah, but i dont play 10 hours a day, i have a job, kids and use this Server as a way to relax and enjoy Rust, With all due respect mining 1.4m Stone to make sure i can have a decent base that isnt a 2x2 or a square box isnt really what i joined this sever to do with my limited time.

I respect the position you guys are in and i understand you want to trail new changes, but the main reason we joined RustEZ was because of the fact it had no Decay.  Im on a few people that will be punished for putting effort into building a base to be proud of.

I know I'm late to this party (so this probably wont be read anyway) but the survey started before we even joined the server (we joined the last week of April), and while i am not 100% against decay I'm also not happy about it, I just used a build server so scale down the base we had planned for next wipe, i scaled down to 25% (one quarter) the size we had planned and its still 102k stone per 24 hours, for a full wipe that is 3.1 MILLION stone, even at the proposed 50% rate that’s 1,550,000 stone for a full wipe, a large chest holds 48k stone, so that would be 32 large chests and 1 small chest full of stone for a wipe for what i consider to be a small (PVE) base.

For more context on the resource requirement that would be 155 diesel in the giant excavator so you would have to run it for 310minutes or 5.16 hours, the same players bitching about large bases will be the same players bitching if i use GE for 5 hours but i physically wouldn’t be able to do it and i wouldn’t want to, for players like us that get 2-4 hours in the evening after our kids are in bed its just not do-able and i don’t want to live in some shitty 2X2 PVP style base, we build large fun bases and try to interact with other players as much as possible, the only reason we even us vending machines is that most players prefer them, i would prefer an actual shop front and bartering.

All this is before we even get into other ways to deal with lag and the other issues some players are raising (which are actually mostly non-issues 2 seconds of lag while the server loads a chunk is not a big deal), 10 days for a base to wipe due to not logging in is daft it should be 5-7 days max, when i first joined the server an admin explicitly told me it was one windmill per base (windmills are the single largest lag causing entity in the game because of how facepunch designed them to track real time wind data from the entire map INCLUDING player entities you can literally build around someone’s base to stop their windmill from working), but this limit is not enforced, there is also (as far as i am aware) no rule about multiple bases so many players have 4+ bases so they can "teleport" to monuments, if you are not allowed to camp monuments then then why are people allowed to build a base outside each monument? That's just camping via the proxy of a base! And also means players like us who actually traverse the map by driving or using a train to get to the monument never get a look in!

Case and point i just check our current map, doing a run around the Missile silo "no build ring" only counting bases directly next to it, and there are 25 bases, 4 of these have vending machines and only 2 other are large enough to be a main base, so we have 19 bases that are 1x1, 2x2 or similar, one is literally a twig platform with 4 sleeping bags on it, clearly not a main base, these are clearly "teleport bases" and also leads me to the sleeping bag issue, i didn’t count around missile silo but i saw plenty of them and no matter where you are on the map you cant walk more than 10 feet without seeing one.

Sorry Death but I'm calling BS on this one, 1.4 Million stone in 1 day with just a jackhammer? go on then! I DOUBLE DOG, DOCTOR WHO DONUT DARE YOU! to upload a YouTube video of you mining 1.4 Million stone in under 24 hours with just a Jackhammer (no teas or pies) but i wont count prep time so you can build a staging ground base before you set off, "some can do it in a few hours" LMAO what utter tripe, well I'm giving you the full 24 hours lets see shall we?

And a great thing about decay is all the farmers out there can make teas/pies all wipe and they will always be be in demand. A nice boost to the economy.

i think you are underestimating the amount of space it takes to grow things like berries for the teas, the above base i discussed is as small as i could make it while still having 2 3X3 planter box spaces and that less than half our current grow space, sure we could still do it but we wouldn’t be able the make the same kind of quantity and accounting for the time lost that we will have to spend farming materials to deal with the decay the price would likely be triple or more (we currently charge 20 scrap for a pure tea), your analysis works for a real society where some people deal with maintenance while others grow food, this would be a change to a game where everyone loses time to maintenance.

@Jayydog Stole me mafs!
