    Event Idea

    You have to be clothed and fed, so that is actually part of it. It is not just about speed, its about efficiency.
  3. Every one starts in a remote location on the edge of the map. Fully fed, watered and health. Empty handed (not even a rock, torch or map) they must make it to the other side of the map to a preset location (vending machine location would be easiest). They need to be wearing four pieces of clothing. They have to have equiped an axe, pick, stone spear and a bow. they have to be full health, water and food. The Bear run challenge. LR for the first one there, M92 for the second and third place finishers. This would better suit pure, or even more cut-throat PVP with compass turned off. I'm picturing the odds are on Crio, but I think I could keep him honest and hustling.
  4. Building Grades for Rust http://oxidemod.org/plugins/building-grades.865/ We have used this. Its kind of cool to turn twig to stone with one command. Saves a ton of time when building.
  5. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as the server population is growing and fluctuating. I'm happy to have more frequent wipes even without carry over of inventory, but can see both sides of this. Lets give this a try and see how it goes. If we are knee deep in tool cupboard and abandoned twig build, but scant players, we can adjust accordingly. It will be a fascinating social experiment. As always this is a work in progress and tuning will continue to be the balancing act Death has to do.

    Earn Caps!

    I just hope I can use them in Fallout 4 as well. Will we be able to transfer caps between players or is it a per person currency. If we can transfer them, can we use them in vending machines? This could radically affect the game dynamics.
  7. The machine is up and has nine targets. I will refresh them tonight, if any sold. I am doing one reactive target for a reactive target so I can simply reskin the trade ins and put them back in the machine. I tried to make it fit in with the rest of the range. I did drop a TC in this little room to protect it, feel free to authorize yourself (ping me if you are not an admin and I will unlock it). There is a shared repair bench and three small furnaces there as well, so folks can fix their guns and make more bullets. I might drop a large furnace as well, but was worried I might detract from the range.
  8. let me know the location again and I set up a machine with some in. They will cost gears since that is the hardest part to get to make them.
  9. I am happy to skin as many targets as folks want. I have both the skins you can get in the market. The ones that glow in the dark are kinda fun. BTW Death has/had developed a proper shooting range on the water some place. it is great for learning to allow for bullet drop at different ranges and elevations. you might want to drop a vendor on the map so folks can find that one to give it a whirl.

I put four targets up at various ranges to shoot from the three story shooting stand behind the road house near fyreskin's Fashion on the survival map. the furthest ones are in the rock looking towards the Dome. Enjoy the challenge of shooting at various ranges and hone your gun skills. This is to see if you like this sort of thing for a build post wipe to help people like me learn not to shoot our toes off.
  11. We have a LAN server to test build and with Copy Paste you can move them directly from Fortify. Building is fun, but eventually you might want someone to chat with. Come home when you are ready. I'm happy to give you a leg up with stone, wood and metal bits to get you going quickly. We have a road house with public tools as well, so give you a quick leg up. There is even a shooting range out back. Look for Fyreskin's vending machine to find it. It is not far from Pigeon-Mart which is a good value store to get things like rifle bodies. I can give you an AK to get you going as well.

    From what I been told pump jacks don't work correctly yet, and the survey charges to place them are missing. hopefully they will get it sorted in a future patch. There is a mod for this we could explore for survival, but I have not tried it to see if it works: OilCrate for Rust

I mean improving my aim. It can be a lot of fun. You could look to have shooting contests.

  17. There have been a few cases of folks not respecting personal air drops on survival. If we can't lock the drop the person who threw the signal, perhaps make those drop low and fast so they are looted before half the map can run over to see what you got?
  18. here's the funny part. I was rushing to convert the motel around the corner to stone to keep them safe. Just got in the door to our place with it shooting at me. it was cross it did not get me so it unloaded with both rockets and napalm. At least the motel is safe now.

If we can sequence quest so they open up based on completion of others we could walk new players through the basics of: chop wood make a map Drink (from a river) find corn (by a river) find pumpkin (by a river) get some more wood get some stone make tools (axe and pick) collect cloth make an bow and arrows .... etc.
  20. I did the campfire quest and it seemed to eat the campfire I had made. I could have missed it in my bag. you might want to test it.
  21. We have taken a look at some other servers to compare and contrast their configuration. None have the community of RustEz, which is the biggest draw of the servers. Some nice features to consider: http://R-Remover Tool for Rust A nice tool to allow players to remove built items if in range of a tool cupboard they are authorised to. That will free admins from busy work. http://oxidemod.org/plugins/furnace-splitter.2406/ This automatically splits items for furnaces, camp fires, etc. it is very convenient. I know we have no fuel requirement running but it is not allowing all the supported types (like camp fires and oil refineries). Could VIP get full access? I know we have kits on pvp, but they would be nice on modded. I'd give folks a 3 mushrooms, one corn, two pumpkin so they realise there is food out there. I'd give them a map, stone hatchet, a stone pick axe and burlap clothing (skinned). That way they would hopefully not die so quick. If you wanted to sweeten to pot to get more VIP give them a salvaged axe and pick axe. There is a lot you can do on this front. It can end up ruining balance, so it is a delicate dance. Some servers unlock kits with time played. That way it encourages folks to play more. I found myself checking what I get at what time point and wanting to meet that goal. Very compelling. http://oxidemod.org/plugins/skipnightvote.2058/ this allows players to skip night. Personally I do ok in the dark, but for some they basically stop playing for 30 minutes. http://oxidemod.org/plugins/n-teleportation.1832/ This give teleportation. That can be OP, you would want to greatly limit this, perhaps to just home once an hour, and/or possible just to steam friends. This one Is a bit more controversial as it changes game balance. I notice a lot of smaller servers created a small town for players. Some link to their store. Some have basic vendors. We are fortunate that some players like pigeon set up nice stores. It might however using zone manager to make a town area to encourage grouping and provide an in game route to the store. Often times it was combined with in game currency to do a mild form of pay to win. I know you are keen to work on some aspect like this. If I scout any other feature that might make RustEz even more habit forming, I will let you know.

  23. I will ask fyre to stay up all night to keep the walls up from decay and raiders, poor fyre. I guess I will farm some more stone, wood and HQM.
  24. quick question. I'm currently all packed and hiding in a bunker to avoid getting killed in the events that start before the inventory snapshots. If by some freak accident I end up dead I am assuming I lose all my stuff correct? Just so the public knows on Pure behind the police station across from the family friendly shop is a public bunker made of plate, encased in stone. Hop on discord to get the code to get inside.
  25. I find if I find a section of double road I can farm more hqm through recycling that I can running after air drops or running a quarry. It is tedious, but efficient. Once you have your two stacks of handy components I grind hqm and fragments. But I cheat and get a recycler placed right where I am farming. I will try to find a spot like that post wipe and set up road houses to share the repair bench, research station, water collector and refinery.
