  1. with the servers being updated to purer than pure this month I presumed the non instanced quarries had been taken off line as they wont let me stick in some low grade into them to get a bit of a resource boost. But by your post it would suggest that sticking in a few barrels of diesel will get the old birds working
  2. at the start of 2022 I would have said yes 100 percent as the economy of Pure was broken with instanced quarry and pumpjacks. I moved to Scourge and appreciated a little bit more upkeep costs, need to keep they quarry going an extra week. But with the recent changes to Pure (to which I welcome and I returned to the server) where the quarry is out of action then no I don't see a way to put in upkeep costs without making it a real hardcore server. Which would to some degree be fun for the real dedicated players, but overall would not see the fantastic number of players seen this month
  3. Well folks, with most of my time over the years in the game playing on EU Pure and its journey, when horses would roam free and mini copters would sit by the road allowing you to kill yourself every few minutes in an effort to learn how to fly. I find myself drawn to reply or give my thoughts on this thread despite over the last 6 wipes or so moving to EU Scourge. I suppose part of the reason in writing this would be to reflect on what made me look to move server in the first place. Much of which others have touched upon further up : * Tech tree took so much away from people who played the game as shop keepers. It as suggested took away quite a bit of the community spirit from people hunting items down to research. People could directly research items down the tree - example electronics, rather than the pot luck on what your scrap was researching. Due to this the game/benches became cheap to complete your desired items rather than the hard grind of researching the lot * Instanced quarry - this really killed the economy * building upkeep - obviously there is none. You build anything you want with no consequence or grind to maintain. * no animals and no roadside scientist for that little bit of risky roaming So with the above the game became too easy and people were done and finished after a few days . So I gave Scourge a go. Lots of positives, zombies about everywhere to keep you on your toes, building upkeep needs to be complied with, and the networth number in the top corner where it at least gives you a target or something to track your progress and each wipe is not just for nothing. Having that keeps you playing over the whole month to keep pushing that number up. With all that said it still suffers from tech tree, instanced quarry and more unique things that make it easy like teleporting, trading etc. A completely pure experience of Rust as Death has set out his roadmap? Making things harder and the game lasts the whole month as there is no short cuts ect ? Yes I would say that was a winner and no downside Best wishes Stephen
  4. I think a point Chillman missed out was that he plays on EU Pure. So once a gun and ammo has been acquired on day one then bears, wolfs etc are not a problem. For the next 30 days or so every drop continues to produce guns, ammo and armour. These are then of little use after the day 1 drop given the servers are non aggressive and more about being creative and chilling. Serious players will acquire one way or another the guns they need to ncp or heli. The vending machine selling market has been almost wiped out on selling the above classes of items given the saturation of availability. with a lot of the focus from players using the pure servers being on crafting, creativity, farming crops etc etc the old air drop cycle provided a lot of most welcomed items or materials to help a player. So whilst the airdrop focusing on guns/ammo/armour suits one type of server where there is a lot of action and being aggressive/under attack. The sleepy pure servers do not require this level of focused air drops on particular items when players are focused on farming crops, creative buildings, shop keepers and in general being friendly to each other. Best wishes Stephen
  5. Cargo ship taking a route right into the heart of the map. taking everything it touched with it. someone was actually on the ship when it happened. the contents of the boxes from our houses etc appeared as loot on the deck of the ship ! Video of that is available from a lad with the player name crazy, link to youtube in dicord chat
  6. Yeah I have to agree. This might be brilliant concept and map design on some of the server formats. But on the pve just build, no shooting etc it takes a lot away. Being in just basic build mode it is more about community spirit, getting to know other players etc etc since you are not trying to kill each other. This map design, size, sea all around etc brings a feeling of being cut off from a large proportion of the other players Some of the new sites, that I have seen across the America's are stunning and visually brilliant. But a community map it is not in its current earth design As a rust combat map it could be perfect. Don't think it fits in with vanilla though Best wishes Stephen
