So... this word is no longer acceptable in our day-to-day, why is it ok in casual talk or people's names? It's insulting and unacceptable. Would it be okay to ban this word? It seems kind of funny that it's still happening in 2021.

I agree it is pretty frustrating to see, its not exactly socially acceptable anymore in your day to day life so not sure why it is in game? I think that should be changed.

Any word that is meant as harm or derogatory to another person should not be acceptable.

Most moderation done is never seen or realized by the majority of players.  Any terms or expressions that are derogatory or hateful  are unwelcome here and are usually handled quickly and quietly,  if an occurrence happens, please tag the appropriate server in #help on out Discord and it will be looked into and dealt with.

I suppose it could depend on which country you live in, but where i live for example saying retard is no worse than calling someone an idiot.

Never the less toxic behavior is already not allowed on the servers, so as long as that's enforced there shouldnt be much of a problem.

Words of this nature are better handled on a case-by-case basis so we can attempt to correct the behavior rather than auto banning for it.

I agree with @Death, a case-by-case is the best course of action, as it's the intent behind a word, not the word itself.

Just to clarify, just because the word isn't banned, doesn't mean we will not moderate. Most moderation is done by an admin, whereas auto ban is there to get rid of players that use words with no redeeming qualities.

Political discourse is against the server/website rules. Seems to me like you're kind of baiting a political response. Nothing you said was constructive towards the conversation. I'd recommend just deleting this comment before you get a talking to for baiting.
