Retire backpack plugin in profit of vanilla backpacks

Recommended Posts

Hi I might be a little biased on this topic but I never liked how powerfully cheated the backpack plugin is. I understand it makes not losing items more convenient, but that removes a huge aspect of PvE difficulty. Now that Rust has implemented vanilla backpacks and went through the trouble of balancing them how they deem it fit, I would really like for the backpack plugin to be retired from the survival servers. Maybe instead you could rework ways to acquire the vanilla backpacks to make it less challenging to obtain for PvE noobs? Not to mention it triggers my OCD to see the backpack slot on the left and it not being linked to the backpack plugin either. Thanks for considering it!

I would second this also, pending a decent vanilla backpack. I've heard that it's on staging? I haven't tried it myself.

The F1 kill-a-port is a little cheesy especially on modded servers that have an actual in game teleport (not saying I don't abuse it extensively). If the new vanilla backpack is able to have its size increased for VIP then the mod, like the sync pipes, would be unnecessary.

Maybe the backpack could be added to the starter kits for Scourge and Survival?

Starter kits are a good idea especially since the backpacks come in two sizes, maybe normal users could get the small one and VIP the large one instead?

Also I haven't tested getting one yet, but I think it is live already as I saw the slot icon in my inventory next to armor slots.

What do you mean?

Simple really. The more "perks", advantages, the easier the game. The easier the game, the bigger the builds. The bigger the builds, the more performance issues.

Having even more inventory room obviously contributes to that cycle.
