There could be several reasons why you'd log back in dead. Being offline for more than 10 days (inactive decay), dying from cold or radiation, or from a world event such as the helicopter. In this case, it seems you were killed as a result of crashing a minicopter. I'll attach the logs below, take notice of the dates in between each event.

I'm not able to reproduce any issues with the salvaged hammer picking up deployed aircraft. If this is still an issue please reply with as much information as possible to help identify the issue.
