I appreciate the replies on this thread, but as noted above:  player history, behavior, and positive contributions and interactions within our PvE community is not considered in an appeal for racism or language bans.

I have reviewed the server chat logs from September for this situation, and in context there is nothing that indicates the player was intentionally being derogatory (or racist) with their comment, but potentially just enjoying a little RP in their game. 

As the word jackanapes has a distinct (nonracial) definition in the English language, it wouldn't be added to our auto-ban system and we would manually review the word in context of how it was used on the server to determine intent, and in this case, it doesn't appear to have (or be used) in a malicious way.

The decision to not lift your ban is in line with how all staff handles racism ban appeals. The language you used on our server is inherently racist and is not welcome in any context.  We do not lift bans for language which has only one usage, that being purposefully racist or severely derogatory.

In the examples you pointed out, the ban was placed when a player used slang  that is often intended as derogatory, but may also have usage that is not purposefully racist. Only in this scenario will the appeal be considered and only if logs clearly indicate such.

As noted in the previous response, your ban will not be lifted. I appreciate that you have been an active member of this community, however, player history, behavior, and positive contributions and interactions within our PvE community is not considered in an appeal for racism or language bans.

Correct. Our Pure servers do not have game mods -- only Survival and Scourge servers are modded and have /sil.

BUILD REQUIREMENTS
The build must be a stand-alone single detached Halloween-themed build  (no towns/villages to ensure an enjoyable event experience for all) and contain a minimum of 5 different Halloween items obtained during wipe.  Halloween items will be easier to find after the Rust Halloween update (expected to drop on October 28th).

Yes, often the players "description" of what they said in an appeal is not always exact. That information may not be provided in the ban thread to ensure our forums are not spammed with racial and intolerant verbiage.  Rest assured the player knows exactly what they typed to receive a ban (as do we, by the logs).

I've been here for quite some time and it still amazes me how many racism bans are applied on player accounts each wipe. For every language/racism ban a player submits an appeal for in the forums, there's another 40+ racism bans not appealed.  These are players who will not return to our community, and for good reason.

I'm extremely proud of the changes made this year by RustEZ in regards to dealing with racism and language bans to make the community a more positive place.

This decision is based only on actual word(s) used. If the specific word is inherently racist it will be denied.

If the word(s) used, after reviewing the context, is language we know people may use in ways that is not intended to be racist (but is racist / derogatory when used in other contexts), we drop it to a temp ban and clearly indicate no further exception will be made.  It's a one-time warning to not use that language on our servers for any reason in any context.

Time on server, player history etc. is not considered when accepting or rejecting a racism ban.

It happens. Things come up outside of /rules that admins moderate as needed while we internally review.  What Northstarz communicated was a guideline that admins will make players on their server aware of when needed. It's not something we have to enforce across all servers,  as most don't hit the max use of vehicle world spawns. 

If vehicle spawns are an issue, staff will PSA and ask players on that specific server to limit the cars sitting in bases and shops, and make sure shops are automated so others have a chance to participate in this aspect of gameplay. 

Realistically, if you are a solo player, you can't drive more than one vehicle at a time, so why not be kind and offer/trade/sell any extras (if you have them) to a player who can't find one spawning?  Likewise, a large team usually travels in groups, so even though it could be 8 players, asking teams to keep it to 3-4 vehicles is a reasonable guideline.

We are aware this is an issue at times on our high-pop US servers. Ideally, it's best handled on the backend – and hopefully Death will have some dev time to spend on this in the near future.  Until then, the number of people who do keep an unreasonable amount of vehicles is minimal (as is the number of servers it happens on) so it's pretty easy for admins on that server to communicate some guidelines to players until it's sorted.

The process for accept or reject is extremely consistent for a racism ban, with set criteria for a response from staff. I'm happy to answer any questions you have on this, should you want to create a forum topic in feedback – and respect that this particular thread is intended for a player to make an appeal, not for dropping your random comments in.

Sometimes you might see actions taken against one player and not another, but what you are not privy to is that player's history of behavior on RustEZ servers. An example: You might know a valid report was made against  Player A for stealing and "nothing happens" that you are aware. Yet Player B is banned for stealing. The difference?  Player A was issued an in-game warning for their actions as it was their first time breaking server rules (only Player A sees this warning, not all players on the server). Player B already had a visit from an admin about this rule, and an in-game warning had previously been issued for stealing, and the admin looking into the situation banned them  on the most recent occurrence (all players on the server would see the ban, but not the prior warnings issued to Player B in-game that ultimately resulted in a ban).

Joking aside,  if you play on Pure servers, at some point I'm sure you'll see admins  send general info about this and other topics in Global chat PSAs to educate players and  help players transition to our PvE community.  For the most part, it's basic stuff all new players will learn as they play.  On our modded servers this action (opening anything that doesn't belong to you) isn't possible, hence the earlier suggestion that you could try another server if you didn't like that particular aspect of playing on Pure.
